Who am I to SHINE

I was brave once… once I went to a fitness retreat, a freaking intense retreat, without knowing how to do a proper bur-pee

In case you don’t know either, it’s a squat into a push-up back to the squat then you jump arms up to the sky… I think …but this is not about fitness this is about the reason I named my salon Shine, which I’ll get to I promise…

Leading up to the retreat I was bingeing on personal development hard core, I attended a seminar in particular called Live Big so many times that they let me be on staff … I was surrounded by people being brave and improving themselves fiercely.

And…… back to me on this retreat, me on the beach in Carlsbad CA, running an obstical course counting burpees when the girl next to me (the tallest most beautifully fit goddess I had ever seen in person) quickly helps me do a proper burpee without stopping or missing a beat on her own work out. I’m thinking what I am I even doing here.

The coach and all the others started out on a run, so even though I’d never ran farther than maybe 3 miles at one time, I kept up I just didn’t stop ….maybe a bad choice, safety wise, but because of peer pressure, I did it. I was in pretty good shape don’t get me wrong I mean I was a great weight, it was before I had babies, but never in my life had I done anything to do with fitness. I had zero muscles, I had no endurance… Turns out it was

The best peer pressure experience of my life,

I didn’t know I wouldn’t die from running those damn stairs down to the beach 100 ba-gillion times.

I should have died, in fact I’m surprised I didn’t get hurt. We worked out every day. It shifted so many beliefs I once had. I thought I was so weak, and small and insignificant. I learned…

That I am powerful beyond measure…

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” -Marianne Williamson

There I was physically pushing my body to the limits like I never had before, and each moment I was shocked that I didn’t die… how did I not know I could do all this with my body and not die? I’ve been living in this body for 28 some odd years at that point…

The reason is because I was afraid of my power, my abilities, my potential. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure!!!!??? are you kidding me TRUTH BOMB!

If you have ever wondered about your innate capabilities, I’m here to tell you you are brilliant beyond measure, you are gorgeous beyond measure, you are talented beyond measure, you ARE fabulous B-e-y-o-n-d M-e-a-s-u-r-e!.

But it is easier to truly discover this for yourself when…

-you are peer pressured in a good way.

-when there is a person right next to you whispering sweet positive motivation into your ear.

-you don’t stop, every tiny step forward is better than stopping.

This was the first time I had traveled alone, and though I knew some of the girls, I did not know the area and I found myself running on the beach wanting to stop and just lay there and die, but I realized, if I did, I would be alone and lost haha so maybe that’s pathetic but at least it served me at the time! It gave me some strange reason to push my body past exhaustion.

It took me 3 years after that experience to open my salon in North Ogden, Shine Beauty, I opened it knowing the salon I create will be different from the last 6 salons I previously worked at

This salon was being created through me. This salon would have THIS MESSAGE AND MISSION BEHIND IT:
